Lunch Takeaway at Simpang 138

Simpang 138,
Kg Sungai Akar.
Along the highway to the airport.

This is the famous Nasi stall at Kg Sungai Akar. It is small stall by the roadside, there is no sign board or anything. The only clue that you can find it is by searching for cars parked at the road side. There is no car entrace to the stall you will have to park your car by the road and walk in. They sell quite a number of food ranging from nasi katok to economy meals.

Capers

Capers

"All you can eat" Promotion deals of around $12.80 per adult and $8.80 per child. There is no harm trying all the pasta and pizza. So we did out part and eat all we could.

Location: Kiulap (On the same block as Baiduri Bank, On the last floor next to Le Taj)

Cuisine: Italian

Carbonara

Fettuccine Carbonara Amatricana

The pasta and the sauce is well incorporated, giving the pasta a glossy shine to it. The Carbonara Sauce is thick and creamy. The right thickness to put a a creamy white layer of sauce around the mouth :)

Ravioli al Salmone

The chef is really generous with the salmon fillings :) You can actually taste the salmon and feel the difference of the texture on both the salmon and the pasta dough.

Lamb Shank

Penne Barbeque Beef Ribs

This is dish is absolutely amazing. The strong barbeque sauce is to dream for. The sauce is a little hot but kids should have no problem indulging it. The beef ribs is tender and juicy on the inside. This dish could score a 10/10 if the chef pour on a a little more sauce over the Penne. That way I could just rub the Penne over the sauce and eat it.

KTM

KTM

Location: 1 & 2 Spg 632 Kg Jerudong, Brunei Darussalam (Just before the Mosque at Jerudong, It wont be hard to miss as the KTM sign is easily spotted while driving along that road)

Cuisine: Thai food

Parking could be a problem in this area as there are very limited parking space. It is suggested to reach there early if you plan to dine in the restaurant. Lack of parking space could be fustrating, it is best to avoid.

Clear Tom Yam

This is a very well prepared dish. The taste of the Tom Yam is very smoothing. It is not that salty and spicy the taste is just perfectly right. Best for people like me who is a non spice eater.

Pandan Chicken

This is one of the best looking pandan chicken I had so far. The chicken is nicely warp with in the pandan leaf. It is my first time to see such a bright green color on the pandan leaf. Normaly the pandan should turn black and brownish.

The pandan chicken is quite oily infact, I have no idea why but everytime when you try to tear open the leaf you hands will be heavily coated with oil. The texture of the chicken is hard but nice to chew on. The taste is a little salty but good with rice.

Tofu

The restaurant is pretty generous with the ingredient. This is a tofu dish and yet all you can find is a few rectangular peice of tofu and rest of it is covered with seafood. Which is a good sight for more :)

Fried Salted Squid

The taste of the squid was alright. It is heavily seasoned on both spice and salt. The crust of the squid make it a little hard to chew. It would be good if the crust is a little crunchy.

Fried Salted Crabs

For a small crab it is quite meaty and the texture of the meat is soft and fresh but is not very well prepared. The crab meat is plain and ordinary, It is not well seasoned. The crab is small and this dish cost $3 per 100 gram

Gordy's Bakeshoppe Grand Opening

Gordy's BakeShoppe

Today, is Gordy's Bakeshoppe grand opening. They are having a buy 1 free 1 cake promotion which drives a large crowd to the bakery. I was there late and most of the cakes were sold out. If I could turn back the time I will and try out some other cakes. But I was lucky enough to get 2 cakes and a discount card :)

Location: Unit No.3, Ground Floor, Sempurna Complex (Next to Happy Star)

Congratulation to
Mr. Leong, Selina and Andrew

Thanks for the discount card!! :)

I was there at night and most of the goodies were sold out before I could lay my hands on them.

All the delicious cakes

Great design

Telephone number and address

Cheesecake

The top of the cake is brushed with sweet syrup giving it a sweet sensation. The harden syrup gives the cake a little hard texture when eating which is great since the cake itself is spongy and wiggly. When you try lifting the cake the bottom layer will tear off easily. This shows how soft the cake is.

Durian Cake

I am so in love with this. Dont let the looks fool you. This cake is actually covered with durian cream. I was surprised when I first take a bite out of it. The creamy durian taste is truly incredible. The taste durian taste is fresh and creamy. The cake on the hand is soft and spongy. I do enjoy eating it, My sis a non durian eater had 2 big slices :)

Chicken Rice (Steam Chicken) at $2.50 or $3 for the roasted chicken

One of the cheapest Chicken Rice around town. The rice well steamed with a very distinct fragrance. The chicken is not that well steamed. The inside is a little ice cold on some part of the meat. The chicken gravy is really good. I cant really describe the taste, all I know is that I was too busy pouring scoop after scoop of gravy on my rice. Flooding the whole plate with juicy delicious gravy.

Corn Soup

Price at $4 it is a really good bargain. The corn soup comes in a big bowl which is big enough for 3 to share.

Claypot Tofu

Priced at $6. The Claypot Tofu consist of Fish slice, mushroom, vegetables like carrots, onions, green beans and tofu. The pot is just the right size for two to three to share. The taste of the tofu is nicely corporated with the other ingredients. The gravy is no exception :)
